Josep Lluís Mateo
Born in Barcelona (1949), he obtained a degree in architecture in 1974 at Barcelona School of Architecture and his doctorate (Cum Laude) in 1994 from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Project Professor at the Department of Architecture of ETH-Zurich. He has given lectures and taught courses at numerous European and American institutions and was visiting scholar at the J.P. Getty Centre (Los Angeles, 1991-92).
Director of the magazine Quaderns d’Arquitectura i Urbanisme from 1981 to 1990. During this period, the magazine was awarded prizes by the following entities: ACCA, Laus, Ciutat de Barcelona and the International Union of Architects (IUA).
He is currently a member of the Architectural Quality Committee of Barcelona City Council and member of the Advisory Board of the School of Architecture, La Salle (Barcelona).
Since 1991, he has formed part of the MAP Arquitectos team, of which he is the chief architect, together with the associate architects Marta Cervelló (since 1995) and Jordi Pagès (since 2005).
