María José Duch Navarro was born in Barcelona in 1960 and Francisco Pizá Alabern was born in Palma in 1958. They have worked together in Palma since 1994. Their projects include the remodelling of the Plaza de Cort (for the Palma City Council), the Sa Gerrería Vocational School, the Town Council building (in Tías, Lanzarote), renovation of the Casal Balaguer, numerous school buildings, housing projects for the Balearic Institute of Housing and for the Municipal Council, as well as numerous office buildings. Their awards include a first prize in the European III competition, the City of Palma Renovation Award and the Majorca Architecture Award (2002-2003) with nominations on a further six occasions. Maria José Duch has twice been awarded first prize in the national competitions held by the Bagués jewellery store
María José Duch Navarro and Francisco Pizá Alabern have been invited twice by the Architects' Institute of Catalonia to give lectures and exhibit their work on the cycle of Catalan architecture. |
